All of our foodie items from 2009

We had many items we just didn't get a chance to post in 2009 but just didn't have the time.  So here they are in summary form, all the stuff we thought you should know, because it is best for men!

Our friends at Kitchen Contraptions have found a pretty interesting device at Hammacher Schlemmer.  We think this will help us eat healthier as we buy more fruit for 2010.  Put your fruit in it, press a button and it makes a vacuum.  We've used our food saver for a long time, and it does a great job saving food, but this seems a lot easier than getting out our vacuum everytime.  The Food Storage Preserving Chamber.  Plus it is called a chamber, how can you not buy it? 

Also, a great way to store your cheese so it doesn't get old so quickly.

The crew at LifeHacker (a really great blog to follow) told us something we already knew; Alton Brown is cool.  They linked to his kitchen hacks, and then the Good Eats fan page which lists the cool gear he uses and where to get it.

We're really behind with this one.  Kegworks provides a great set of holiday shots to drink yourself through the holidays.  With a nice 3 days weekend, and these little chocolate shot cups on sale, now might be a great time to experiment, practice and buy these for next December.

Ever wonder how to keep your bubbly bubbly?  Well you could always invite Mr. Dude & The Guys over, and we'll make sure you don't have any left overs.  Or you could try the spoon in the neck trick and keep it for another day.

We'll post this elsewhere as 6 tips you can learn this weekend in the kitchen, but it is so important we'll post it here again.  The trick to getting your pans to not stick to your food (or your food not to stick to your pans).  Even more important with all the worry about high temperature issues with non-stick coatings. 

Homemade butter in 5 minutes, to go with your bread you can make everyday.

Mr. Dude got Mrs. Dude a hydroponic garden last year for Christmas.  We ended up returning it because of the noise (it was quiet when first plugged in, but would get louder each month).  We still managed to get a LOAD of herbs that we weren't sure what to do with.  Now we know, and we have a way to stash unused fresh herbs purchased from the store.

We use our kitchen scale for all sorts of things, but it does get in the way.  We like the look of this foldable kitchen scale.  Or you can get the scale that doubles as a clock.

What is a shake shack burger?  We have no idea, but wow does it look good, and here's a recipe for them as well.

You can get all sorts of crap from a vending machine.  But this is really cool, farmers selling their all natural goods in a vending machine.  Awesome.

Gas powered blender.  The thing has handle bars!

Make your own carbonated beverage.

We like our cola.  What else do we drink our rum with right?  We used to drink coke, then we went over seas and enjoyed coke with real sugar.  We drank boylan's for a while, now were just drinking the cola from whole foods.  It's actually pretty good.  For the story of coke with real sugar, check out this entry.
